Kurt Busch hits #3
NASCAR stars competed this weekend at the non-point Sprint All-Star race in Concord, N.C. The field included three Dodges (driven by Busch, Kahne, and Hornish), competing in a 100-lap race for a $1 million purse. There were four yellow flags in the last ten laps.
Penske Racing’s Kurt Busch’s place was his third top-five finish in the Sprint All-Star race. Kasey Kahne came in at 14th, Sam Hornish Jr. at 16th. Hornish had gotten to eighth place until he was involved in a two-car accident.

Five other Dodge drivers were in the 35-car All-Star Showdown, a 40 lap event whose top two winners would make it into the All-Star race. Hornish was not initially selected for the All-Star but won the Showdown. David Stremme led for 25 laps until a yellow flag allowed Hornish to take the lead; Stremme came in third. Al Allmendinger came in 7th, Reed Sorensen 18th, and Elliott Sandler 33rd.
The next points race will be next Sunday starting 5:45 pm.
