Heavy-duty Ram will be only new Chrysler model for 2010
As Chrysler transitions to a multi-sourced automaker with both Chrysler and Fiat products, there will be just one new model in the company’s 2010 lineup: the heavy-duty version of the Dodge Ram pickup. The new heavy-duty Ram will get its first crew-cab version. Upgrades to the 3500, 4500 and 5500-series medium trucks will come in 2011.
The balance of the changes will come in revised equipment levels, including new base models of the Dodge Caliber, Jeep Compass and Jeep Patriot, which will now be offered with a 2.0-liter engine and five-speed manual transmission that boost fuel economy to 23 mpg city and 31 mpg highway in the Caliber and slightly less in the Jeep models. The Caliber will also get an interior upgrade with a revised instrument panel and soft-touch materials, addressing some of the complaints about the interior of the previous version.
A new fuel-shutoff system will be available on the Dodge Nitro, light-duty Ram pickup and Jeep Liberty. The system cuts fuel during deceleration. increasing fuel efficiency.
The Chrysler Sebring will get a new hood without the controversial creases, which should boost customer appeal. The change will affect both the sedan and convertible.
Chrysler is also cutting prices. For example, it’s reducing the base price of the Dodge Caravan SXT by more than $2,000.00.
