Fiat to sell new Chryslers in Europe
Sergio Marchionne announced, in Italy, that numerous Chrysler-based Fiat cars will be launched in 2011 throughout Europe. In addition to the future Ypsilon and Panda and two compact MPVs, which will be Fiat designs, five vehicles will be introduced from Chrysler. One will be sold as a Fiat, the rest as Lancia, all “derived from high-end Chrysler models. Fiat will introduce a crossover and Lancia will offer two new D-segment models – a sedan and a cabriolet – a new flagship luxury sedan and a large MPV.”
Analysts believe that the Fiat crossover will be the Dodge Journey, which is already sold in Europe equipped with a diesel engine and dual-clutch automatic. The D-segment sedan and convertible are very likely the revised Chrysler Sebring, with Pentastar V6 and revised World Engine. The flagship would be the revised Chrysler 300C or Dodge Charger with appropriate sheet metal changes, and the large MPV would be the Chrysler minivan.
