Lawmakers ask Chrysler to halt new franchise awards

Two Republican Congressmen have asked Chrysler Group CEO Sergio Marchionne to hold off on awarding new franchises in areas where a previous franchise was terminated. Citing the possibility that a dealer could win reinstatement through arbitration, Representatives Steven LaTourette of Ohio and Pete Hoekstra of Michigan, who is running for the state’s governorship, said, “We are concerned about your treatment of the loyal Chrysler dealerships that have stood by your brand for decades.”
Chrysler had no comment on the issue.
