Chrysler to post profits?
Chrysler posted its second quarterly operating profit in a row, according to an anonymous source quoting CEO Sergio Merchionne in an Automotive News article. The company may still have a net loss, but sales are expected to increase as new products hit the streets, led by the critically acclaimed 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Operating profits do not include interest payments and some other costs. Chrysler could declare operating profits with a net loss.
Fiat, which owns a stake in Chrysler and is sharing technology and European sales support, also reported a profit, thanks in part due to higher truck and agricultural equipment sales. Fiat expects billion-euro operating profits for the year.
