Jeep launches new off-road trailers
Claiming an industry first, Jeep has launched a pair of new off-road trailers with tubular aluminum frames (no wood or fiberboard), which add strength and reduce weight compared with traditional camper construction. Both are designed for offroad use; the regular Jeep Trail Edition camper runs $9,995 and weighs 850 lb. The Extreme version runs $2,000 more and weighs 1,050 lb, but has 15 inches of ground clearance (vs 12 inches on the regular model), a heavier duty frame, a larger skid plate protected area, and other features.
JeepNewsNow claims that the trailers are based on the Livin’Lite Quicksilver 6.0, which sells for considerably less. However, we expect, based on Mopar’s testing and standards, that the Jeep versions may be more durable and more thoroughly tested under different conditions.
