Wrangler production halted by parts shortage
Reuters is reporting that Chrysler Group halted production at the Toledo Jeep plant that builds the Wrangler on Thursday. The stoppage is blamed on a parts shortage caused by tropical storm damage to rail lines in Mexico.
“We have an ample supply of Wranglers,” said Shawn Morgan, a Chrysler spokeswoman. She also said Chrysler is watching the situation and has not yet decided whether production at the plant can resume tomorrow. Ms. Morgan declined to disclose what parts shipments were affected.
Other Chrysler plants are closed for a regularly scheduled two-week summer shutdown and were not affected.
