For the seventh consecutive month, Chrysler reported sales increases over the same month in the prior year. The redesigned Grand Cherokee's sales were up 291%, and Ram pickup sales rose 41% as the 2011 Ram Laramie Longhorn was named “Truck of Texas” by the Texas Auto Writers Association and the Ram trucks swept every category entered in annual “Texas Truck Rodeo.”

All Chrysler brands posted year over year sales gains, with 90,137 units sold in the US in October 2010 (compared with 65,803 in October 2009).

Chrysler Group finished the month with a 74-day supply of inventory (245,739 units).

Jeep posted a 111% sales increase with all remaining models rising; Wrangler rose 49% and Patriot and Compass had triple digit increases. The discontinued Commander dropped 17%, an inconsequential amount given the low inventory left.

Ram trucks posted a 37% increase, as both light- and heavy-duty pickup truck sales posted double-digit percentage sales increases. Crew Cab and Quad Cab models continue to be the most popular choices. Overall, Ram sales are now down 1% year to date; the Ram itself is up by 2% but the loss of the Sprinter dropped Ram down.

Dodge itself (excluding Ram) posted a 3% sales increase, with Caliber sales (up 376%) responsible for the black ink. Dodge Challenger and Nitro each posted double-digit sales gains, 33% and 50%. Avenger and Charger both fell, by 31% and 17% respectively (both are being substantially upgraded for 2011). Journey sales were dead on.

The volume leader of Dodge, the Caravan, fell by 9%, falling behind Town & Country; overall, minivan sales rose by just 479, in the face of increased competition from the newly redesigned Toyota Sienna, as well as some competition from Chrysler's own upcoming minivans.

Chrysler Brand posted a 29% sales increase; the Town & Country minivan rose by 18%. Chrysler 300 sales increased 79% in October even as it nears replacement. Sebring sales, already depressed, dropped another 13%, but that only accounted for 327 units, easily outweighed by 2,300 extra 300s and the 1,300 extra minivans (and a few hundred straggling PT Cruisers).

Across all brands, car sales rose 16% and truck/SUV/minivan sales rose 45%. International sales figures (for regions other than Canada) have not yet been released.
