Chrysler UK releases Jeep diesel specs

Chrysler UK has released figures for the VM Motori diesel engine in the Jeep Grand Cherokee: 237 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque (550 Nm), four horsepower lower than initial estimates. Reader “Stratus,” who brought us information on this engine some time ago, said that the engine is quieter and smoother than the 3-liter Mercedes V6 it replaces; gas mileage is far better, with 8.3 liters used per 100 km while the old engine used 9.7 (European combined estimates). The V6 model, in comparison, uses around 9.1 highway, 13.1 city.
The UK model includes an integrated diesel particulate filter.
