According to figures released by Edmunds.com, Chrysler Group, which posted the largest sales gain of the Detroit automakers in June, spent an average of $2,601 on incentives, less than Ford ($2,859) or General Motors ($2,951). Mercedes-Benz spent the most in June, $3,434, while its Smart brand spent the least at $297. Chrysler Group incentives were down 20.2% from last June but up 8.4% from May.

The Jeep brand spent an average of $1,977 per vehicle on financial incentives last month, less than any other domestic brand and less than the industry average of $2,232. Dodge (including Ram) and Chrysler brands spent more than the industry average at $2,935 and $2,925, respectively, putting them fifth and sixth, behind Lincoln, Cadillac, Mercedes-Benz and Buick. Compared to June 2010, Jeep spending dropped $589, or 23.0%, while Chrysler spending fell $1,043 or 26.3% and Dodge spending went down $354 or 10.8 percent. Spending in May was higher: Dodge incentives climbed $273 or 10.3%; Chrysler spending rose $145 or 5.4% and Jeep added $82 or 4.3 percent.
