Chrysler still No. 3, highest growth of major automakers
Whether you count volume or daily sales rate, Chrysler posted the biggest growth of the Detroit automakers in June. It also outsold Toyota, Honda, Nissan and the combined totals of Hyundai and Kia, despite the fact both Hyundai and Kia set new all-time June sales records.
Chrysler sales were up 30.2 percent last month. Adjusting for the extra sales day in June 2011, the daily sales rate (DSR) comes out at 25.2 percent. Ford was next, with volume up 13.3 percent, for a DSR of 9.0 percent. GM core brand volume was up 10.9 percent for a DSR of 6.3 percent.
The Caravan is the king of the minivans both for the month and the first half of 2011. The Dodge broke the 10,000-unit mark, beating the second-place Toyota Sienna by more than 1,000 sales.
