Three more SRT8s launched

Chrysler has launched its SRT8 versions of the 300C, Grand Cherokee, and Charger. All three have 470 horsepower; all but Grand Cherokee have 470 lb-ft of torque, while Grand Cherokee has 465 lb-ft. 300C and Charger claim a 25% highway mileage increase via MDS; Grand Cherokee has a 13% improvement. All have paddle shifters and extensive standard equipment, including an 825-watt stereo on Grand Cherokee and 900-watt stereos on the sedans. The stereos all use a special “GreenEdge” technology which is supposed to boost performance of the speakers to that of a system with more power.

The Charger SRT8 starts at $46,660; 300 SRT8 starts at $47,995; and Grand Cherokee starts at $55,295. Challenger, released earlier, starts at $44,077, but carries a $1,300 gas-guzzler tax on the automatic, and a $1,000 tax on the manual.

The new releases are very consistent with what Allpar has reported in the past; the only changes appear to be elaboration of certain features (most notably, the operation of the paddle shifters and the sport/auto modes on the transmission) and the slight changes in engine power ratings. Allpar’s internal pages have been updated: 300 SRT8, Grand Cherokee SRT8, and Charger SRT8
