January from a Chrysler perspective
Chrysler’s January numbers were good; they blew past even the most optimistic forecast. But when looking at the rankings, it’s easy to get lost in the numbers and wonder why more Chrysler products aren’t in the top ten or top 20. Here’s some perspective on the numbers:
• Chrysler brand’s 81.4 percent increase was the largest increase for any brand in the industry.
• Chrysler’s market share jumped to 11.1 percent, a 2.5-point gain; the largest gain for any automaker.
• The Chrysler 300 outsold every Buick, every Cadillac and every Lincoln.
• Dodge Grand Caravan was back as No. 1 in the minivan market.
• The Jeep Grand Cherokee outsold the Ford Explorer. In fact, the Grand Cherokee outsold every competitive SUV.
• The Jeep Wrangler is still the best-selling traditional body-on-frame SUV.
• The Ram outsold the combined totals of the GMC Sierra, Toyota Tundra and Nissan Titan.
• The Fiat 500 outsold every version of the Scion, the new Volkswagen Beetle, and was just 168 sales behind the Mini Cooper S.
