Ford has just confirmed an earlier report from Autoweek magazine that Penske Racing is switching to Ford for the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup season. Penske will be one of the teams fielding the new Ford Fusion unveiled earlier this year.
“It was important to get this agreement in place early so that we can plan ahead for the debut of the new 2013 NASCAR Fusion,” said Jamie Allison, Ford Racing director. “We will work with Roush Fenway on the final development of the new car during this season, but we want to be able to have our teams building their new cars for the 2013 season before the end of the year, as the transition to the new body is taking place.”
Chrysler Motorsports leader Ralph Gilles wrote the following statement in response:
Dodge has enjoyed a successful partnership with Penske Racing for 10 years. It’s a partnership that has produced results for both parties on and off the track. Roger (Penske) has made a business decision to accept an offer with another manufacturer. We wish Roger and Penske Racing much success in the future.
We are committed to work with Penske Racing to compete at the highest level, win races and contend for championships this season.
Our motorsports involvement isn’t limited to NASCAR. We do value our NASCAR program and will be evaluating the opportunities available moving forward. As those opportunities materialize, we’ll reveal our 2013 plans, not only in NASCAR but in other forms of motorsports.
Rumors have been floating around for years about a potential supercharged Viper. It appears that it is finally happening, but it is not a factory built package. Instead, it was developed by Arrow Racing, which has Chrysler’s permission to modify the computer programming. It will be sold at the largest Viper dealer in the country, The Viper Exchange a/k/a Tomball Dodge. There are [...]

Revulsion if you are a hardcore Jeep offroad type or any executive at AMG, BMW’s M, or Porsche’s SUV division. Anticipation if you are anyone else with a pulse. Nothing official has been said about a Grand Cherokee coming with the already legendary Hellcat installed, and there is not likely [...]
This week, reliable source oh2o wrote that the Viper ACR would start production in July of 2015 as a 2016 model year car. How much of the concept Viper ACR , which was shown at the 2014 SEMA show, will carry through to production is unknown. We can surmise that the enormous carbon ceramic brakes will make it to production, along with [...]
Recently, Automotive News’ Larry Vellequette reported that Chrysler planned to boost the price their least expensive minivan to around $26,000. This resulted in an extensive discussion on Allpar’s forums, with some outrage over the high entry price. Going back to 2000, when minivan sales were still thriving and Chrysler was the undisputed king of the North American mini-market, we see the [...]
