As of yesterday, according to oh2o, Chrysler has raised prices on many vehicles, presumably reflecting the company’s own cost increases. Small price adjustments are normal through the year. In this case, most of the price hikes appear to be on upper level models, indicating perhaps increased costs for leather, safety equipment, or other high end gear.
The biggest price hikes were on SRT cars and 200/ Avenger.
200: the base model rose by $600 while Touring and Limited went up $330 and $340, respectively. Convertibles all went up by $250. However, on 200 Touring I-4, buyers can drop down to the four-speed for a $500 credit.
Avenger rose by $700 for SE and $600 for SXT, but Blacktop and Rallye were dropped by $200 to $395, and as with 200, SXT/I-4 buyers can drop down to the four-speed for a $500 credit.
300: 300S rose by $100 and 300C by $150 (with or without Luxury).
Town & Country S rose by $200, Limited by $300.
Charger SE rose by $200, but the eight-speed has been dropped by $200; it now costs $1,100 on Charger SE. With the eight speed, Charger SE can do 0-60 in 6.4 seconds and gains four mpg on the highway.
Grand Cherokee, $200 on Laredo and Summit, $300 on Limited
Wrangler, $100 on Sahara and Sport two-door; $200 on Sport, Sahara, Rubicon, Sport RHD four-door.
Compass: $100 to $300 depending on model and drive
Ram: $185 across the board on 1500, 2500, and 3500. $210 on 4500 and 5500.
Rumors from Windsor suggested first that the current “RT” minivan body would continue for some years alongside the new “RU,” and then that it would be dropped as soon as the new designs came out — in Chrysler form only. Sergio Marchionne has thrown some fuel onto the speculative fire, commenting today in Detroit that: Where is Reid [Bigland]? If it [...]
Today, Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne implied that the odds were against the Toledo plant keeping Jeep Wrangler production, despite a recent land purchase and the city’s long history with Jeep in general and CJ and Wrangler in particular. He did say that, if Wrangler was to find a new home, new product would be moved to the plant: … if the economic [...]
Burns Motors has posted two videos of a Dodge Challenger Hellcat doing the quarter mile in 10.48 seconds. These stand in contrast to a video elsewhere which shows a $105,000 Tesla owner jumping the red light at the track to beat a Hellcat owner who was unused to the car, and struggled for traction through the run. The 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT [...]
Patrick Rall took the new 2015 Jeep Renegade off-road and on-road — in both cases, taking a standard AWD model as well as the Trailhawk, which has more ground clearance and skid plates. Though the venue, an off-road vehicle park and various city streets and highways, was chosen by Jeep, Mr. Rall was able to choose his route through the obstacles to get [...]
