It’s not slammed like the blackened 300C Mopar set up for SEMA. It’s not equipped with a big 6.4 liter V8, and it doesn’t have an earth-shaking diesel, but it might the most significant Mopar test-bed of the concepts shown today (October 29).
The Mopar Ram Sun Chaser, finished in a bright orange, has a number of concept accessories that could be quite handy in production. The first of these is the tailgate seat setup: what better when tail-gating than actual plastic seats to sit on, complete with backs and cup-holders?
For beach bums and surfers, there are two handy accessories: the clearly visible and obvious surfboard holder system, and more subtly, an electric pump and water tank in the RamBox which provides a shower or cleaning spray. With this gear, people can use fresh water instead of salt water to clean their gear (and themselves).
The surfboard holders, designed for different styles and lengths of board, attach to the existing Ram rail system, a clever way to deal with various add-ons.
Many truck buyers put on bigger, wider wheels; the Mopar people noticed that they stick out, and designed their own fender flares to minimize the effect (presumably cutting back on aero drag and mud throwing along the way). The 17” wheels are specific for Ram, and are currently at the concept stage, as they gauge public reaction.
Most of the Mopar add-ons in this truck are still in the concept stage, but if public opinion is positive, they are likely to see production.
