Dealers saw the new Jeep Wagoneer in Nevada recently. Rumored for years, the premium Jeep has been talked about by Sergio Marchionne and featured in the long-term plan, but did not show up when it was last expected to. Observers now believe the Jeep was awaiting the Grand Cherokee’s redesign.

One source claimed, “The Grand Wagoneer looked like a long, tall, but slightly better proportioned Ford Flex. It had a straight roofline like that. The interior was the real exquisite part of it; the exterior didn't take anyone’s breath away.”

The roofline will likely be straighter than in this speculative rendering.

The timeline for production is still unknown, except that it is at least one to two years away. Wagoneer is expected to sell as a premium vehicle, above the Grand Cherokee and Durango’s top trim lines, and is to be made in limited numbers for that reason. It is likely that Durango will continue, given its current sales and the potential for sharing the basic body with Wagoneer.

Land Rover/Range Rover is the target; the old Wagoneer competed against far more expensive luxury vehicles for driveway space, and insiders wrote that dealers actually asked for a price increase to help its luxury credentials.
