Allpar suffers long outage

Allpar was down for several hours today, as an operator move caused key files to be deleted, requiring a full restoration from a 7 am backup.  The operator was following CPanel instructions.

Within an hour, Allpar’s primary pages were restored, but news, forums, weblogs, and other features remained down until 4:10 pm. LiquidWeb technicians quickly responded to the problem and started the restoration.

Because a “shadow site” was used in the interim to restore partial service, some users may not see the “real” site. Rebooting the computer should eliminate cache issues and allow users to use Allpar normally.

Whither the new forum software?

Invisionboard 3.0 was released today.

When will we see it, ask the impatient members?

Later in the summer, I answer.

I’m wrapped up in Carlisle preparations and other items. This summer will be hectic for me in general and forum updates are not trivial.

We also should wait for the registry software to be updated.

So… please be patient. 3.0 will be a MAJOR improvement from what I’ve seen.

Dealer photos wanted (updated)

A dealer employee sent in this request:

Many Chrysler dealerships will disappear soon. It would be great if your readers could send in photos of these dealerships, and preserve them as a piece of local and Mopar history.

We couldn’t agree more. Please take some photos of your local dealerships, whether they are staying open or not, and post them in our photo gallery at http://allpar.com/gallery/v/dealers/.  It would be appreciated if you could also send them to chryslerinruins@sbcglobal.net.
