For the first time since the redesign, buyers can get a Dodge Avenger SE with the Pentastar V6 engine and a six-speed automatic. That ties the 283 horsepower engine into a car with a retail price of $21,495. (The Pentastar V6 was always available on higher-end models, but is now a $2,500 option on the low-end SE.)

Sales of the Avenger in January and February 2012 were more than double those of the same months in 2011. The SE V6 package also adds 18-inch wheels, bright-tip dual exhaust, and a rear spoiler. All Avenger SEs come with LED tail lamps, soft-touch interior, four-wheel antilock brakes, stability/traction control, noise-insulating front glass, power locks and mirrors, remote, air conditioning, cruise, tilt-telescope steering wheel with integrated audio controls, temperature display, four-speaker CD stereo, and folding rear seat.

Buyers who want a four-cylinder Journey with the frills can now get one, as the Dodge Journey SXT no longer has a standard V6. Instead, it will start at a $1,500 lower retail price, with the four-cylinder standard. Pricing of the Journey SXT V6 appears to be unchanged.
Dodge Journey is the least expensive seven passenger car in the US, with a starting price of $18,995, despite recent interior upgrades.

Four cylinder Dodge Journeys, with a 173 horsepower engine, are rated at 26 mpg on the highway. The V6, with 283 horsepower, delivers 25 mpg highway. City mileage is rated at 19 with the four, and 17 with the six. (AWD models require the V6.)
Dodge also announced that the flexible seating group, which includes a second-row 60/40 “Tilt ‘n Slide” seat, triple-zone climate control, and third-row 50/50 folding/reclining seat, would be free on 2012 Journeys purchased until April 2, 2012.
