With total sales of 6,637 units in August, Chrysler de Mexico reported its best sales results of the past six months and achieved a market share of 11 percent.
Despite low inventory levels on a number of popular nameplates, compared with July 2009, the majority of Chrysler Group vehicles posted major sales improvements.

Chrysler Canada today announced sales of 14,432 units for the month of August. That’s a decline of seven percent compared to 15,548 sales in August 2008. The company says volume has risen in each of the last two months, led by sales of the Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler 300 and 300C.

Cash for Clunkers (CfC) performed the desired miracles for light vehicle sales in August. Sales broke the 1 million mark for the first time this year, hitting 1,261,977 units and the seasonally adjusted annual sales rate (SAAR) was 14.09 million, the highest it’s been since May 2008. Chrysler dropped to sixth place among automakers as Nissan North American finished fifth for the month. Sales at Nissan’s namesake division, which rose not quite 0.2 percent were enough to do the job, coming in 4,358 units ahead of Chrysler Group. Ford’s August sales beat last year’s figures by 17 percent. Including Volvo, where sales improved 24 percent, Ford sold 181,826 cars and trucks, including 2,220 of the new Transit Connect minivans.
