Due to a supplier problem, Chrysler’s Windsor, Ontario, plant will shut down until February 1.

Members of the Canadian Auto Workers union at a Johnson Controls Inc. factory voted 91.3 percent in favor of a new contract over the weekend. The vote averted a strike that could have shut down production of Chrysler minivans at the Windsor, Ontario plant.

In a change of heart that will save over a thousand Canadian jobs, Chrysler has reversed its decision to eliminate the third shift at the Windsor minivan plant.

Reuters reports, quoting a senior administration official, Chrysler will file for protection under Chapter 11 bankruptcy. President Obama and the auto task force will discuss the automaker’s reorganization at noon (EST).
