Following an investigation of Chinese tire companies accused of selling their wares in the United States at prices below their own cost, in order to remove competitors, the Obama administration imposed new taxes on tires imported from China. In return, China has demanded investigations on United States automotive exports and poultry.

General Motors, as part of its plan to increase its use of offshore manufacturing by 98 percent, will be exporting a car it build in China to the United States in 2011.

Deborah Wahl Meyer, Chrysler’s Chief Marketing Officer, is leaving the company today and Phillip F. Murtaugh, who has been handling the company’s Asia operations, will be leaving at the end of the month as part of the latest management realignment. The company says both are leaving to “pursue other interests.”

According to the Wall Street Journal, Chrysler won’t be getting a small car from Chinese manufacturer Chery Automotive Co. Due to the stumbling global economy the Detroit automaker says it has ended talks of cooperation between the two companies.
