Chrysler Group will produce a hybrid version of the Ram 1500 pickup, but it has not been determined whether the light truck will have a diesel engine or not. The automaker had previously said both options would be available in 2010.

Cummins is recalling 400 workers to build engines for the Dodge Ram pickups, and stated that it had a commitment from Dodge for the future as well. Today in Chicago, Dodge is introducing the new Ram Heavy Duty 2500/3500 pickups, and its Class 3-5 Chassis Cabs. Dodge Ram 1500 pickup buyers will have to wait at least another year to have a diesel option. The new light-duty Cummins engine scheduled for introduction in 2010 has been pushed back to 2011 at the earliest.
