Chrysler has followed GM by making a deal with the Michigan Credit Union League which makes low-cost loans available to Chrysler buyers, in return for additional discounts for members of participating credit unions. General Motors, having sold a controlling interesting in GMAC to Cerberus, has now lined up a group of midwestern credit unions who are willing to make $10 billion in low cost financing available to their 12 million members, for buying General Motors vehicles. As predicted, October’s U.S. light vehicle sales weren’t pretty.
