With the Dodge Journey proving more popular than expected in Canada and Mexico, Chrysler is adding new option packages while keeping the base models intact. Starting with the Grand Cherokee in mid-2010, Chrysler will have a product onslaught unseen since the early 1980s, with at least half the vehicles substantially changed. Plans are to have new versions of the Sebring/Avenger, minivans, Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Charger, and 300C by January 2011, with likely changes to the Journey as well.

In addition to restyling the interior of the Dodge Caliber and adding 23% more horsepower to the Dodge Nitro, Dodge has created new model packages and upgraded the base model Journey.

The Dodge Journey was the best-selling crossover vehicle in Mexico last month as Chrysler’s market share rose to an 18-month high, beating Ford for the month. Chrysler captured 11.8 percent of sales compared to Ford’s 11.4 percent. It’s the first time in 15 months that Chrysler has come out ahead.
