Chrysler Group LLC announced today that production will continue for the legendary Dodge Viper SRT10.

The Dodge Viper line at Chrysler’s Conner Avenue plant is back in production, becoming the first of the automaker’s assembly lines to come back online since the company filed for bankruptcy on April 30.

Joe in Harrisburg pointed out that the Viper assets will be acquired by Chrysler Group; and a Fiat subsidiary may acquire the Kenosha plant through a separate 363 sale through an offer option that is good through July 31, 2009. See pages 115 and 116 of the linked PDF.

DragTimes.com reports a brand-new stock Dodge Viper SRT10 recorded a quarter-mile run of 10.92 seconds 129.79 mils per hour at Maryland International Raceway.
Vipers typically score 11.6-second to 11.9-second runs, but owner Jamie Furman scored a tricfecta of a hot car, perfect conditions and a flawless launch to rack up a record.

The 2009 Dodge Viper ACR has broken the street-legal production car record at Germany’s Nürburgring race track, with a third-party certified time of 7 minutes, 22.1 seconds.
