Chrysler dropped to sixth place among automakers as Nissan North American finished fifth for the month. Nissan Motor Company has announced it will be reviewing its vehicle supply agreement with Chrysler LLC. The announcement comes a day after the American automaker filed for bankruptcy protection and finalized an alliance agreement with Fiat SpA.

General Motors announced better than expected U.S. sales for April 2009, with an overall drop of 34% compared with April 2008. By losing less, GM has gained market share against Toyota, but lost ground to Ford.
Toyota’s U.S. sales fell 42% in April 2009 compared with April 2008, with Lexus falling 39%.

Nissan North America, Inc. today reported sales for February of 54,249 units versus 86,219 units a year ago, a decrease of 37.1 percent. Sales of Nissan Division vehicles decreased 37.1 percent, while sales of Infiniti vehicles decreased by 36.8 percent.
