The old Chrysler plan (SCORE) of splitting cost savings from supplier ideas is being brought back, with Chrysler and supplier each getting 50% of the savings. This highly successful plan resulted in billions of dollars in savings when implemented in the 1990s.

Massive supplier Hyundai Mobis will supply modules used in the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango chassis, starting in 2010. The order will generate around $2 billion in revenue for the Korean company, which already provides chassis components at the Jeep Supplier Park.

Canadian parts supplier Magna International, which is currently bidding for Opel, will build a new seating plant on the former site of the Chrysler Corporation headquarters in Highland Park, Michigan. The site was abandoned after the corporate offices were built in Auburn Hills.

Chrysler Group LLC’s salaried workers get to breathe a sigh of relief: they won’t be forced to take a two-week unpaid furlough this summer. According to spokeswoman Shawn Morgan, they will still have a two-week break but it will be a paid vacation instead of a nearly four percent pay cut.
