Chrysler is dropping its lifetime warranty from 2010 models, though it will remain on 2009 models. Chrysler Group LLC announced today that production will continue for the legendary Dodge Viper SRT10.

Joe in Harrisburg pointed out that the Viper assets will be acquired by Chrysler Group; and a Fiat subsidiary may acquire the Kenosha plant through a separate 363 sale through an offer option that is good through July 31, 2009. See pages 115 and 116 of the linked PDF.

Devon Motorworks, which has placed the only serious bid for the Viper and its factory, is owned by Scott Devon, whose primary skill appears to be in running companies. His private-label food firm has been both profitable and rated as a good place to work.

Court documents have revealed a single bid for the Viper, including its assembly plant, coming from Devon Motor Works of Grand Rapids, Michigan. The company has already prepared a car based on the Viper, the Devon GTX. It appears that Chrysler will accept this bid, provided Devon can supply the cash.
