A small addition to the Dodge Charger

I own three chargers, a 1972, a 1974, and a 2006. While I like the 2006, my main gripe is not the 4-door aspect, but the front end. I’ve attached a bit of a concept (I design for film and television) that I would love to see if others feel the same way about. Judging by the reaction to the new Mustang and the upcoming Camaro, I really wish Chrysler would recondition the front end to be more of a throwback to that most loved feature, the grille “maw” and hidden headlights. While it may not be as aerodynamic, I’m sure enthusiasm would skyrocket with just this bold decision. It would be worth it if all of those tuner body kit guys would set about looking at making a throwback kit like this, in between the umpteenth 1995 Civic add-on.

There is no mistaking, that grille says Charger. Let me know what you think.

    Brilliant!

I think it could upstage the 2008 Challenger…to a degree. I’d love to see what you can do with the tail lights.

Nothing says American like a mean-@ss sh!t-eating grill closing in fast!

It looks great, although the 2006 version looks like it will eat you up. Maybe if the front grill were even wider from top to bottom.
This version above kind of reminds me of a Camaro.

The grill you designed looks a lot better than the MB forced piece of junk, but if we are going wish for a Charger that looks like one, how about pushing for the 99 R/T show car? That had good side lines and the front and rear looked great.

I personally like the current styling but prefer Mark’s version. That said, the 1999 R/T show car is known to be impossible to economically produce given the current platform.

If ford can manage to sell mustangs in 2 doors, I still think the Charger, could do very well!
I do like the look alot, You should consider producing one aftermarket!
I really wouldn’t expect anything “Bold or Innovative” to come from the Dodge stable anytime soon.
    The 99 R/T was a great concept!

Problem is the current Charger, much like the original, is a much bigger car - and big 2 door coupes just dont sell. Take the name off the car and not one single person would complain… and also consider that the people bitching the most about the 4doors are the same people that wouldn’t pony up the money even if it was a carbon copy of the original.

Now, as for your rendering, I like it, however there is nothing to really compliment it. There’s no bumper along the bottom like originals, and other than the very nice ‘nose’ - its somewhat flat everywhere else.

Personal, I love the look of the new Charger. I just wish they called it Polara. :D

Wow, I dig that front end. I really do…..

    nice words all.

as background, i really tried to just keep the modification to the front end as light as possible, which is why i didn’t touch the bumper or fogs. just wanted to see what a ‘bare minimum’ change would do to harken back to the ‘charge of old.

one only prays a kit would go a step further and incorporate a bit more boldness. see this as a template idea. a kit, pushed a bit more, may be just the ticket for what ails some of us.

I love it… This is what the car needs above and beyond anything.
The grillwork on the existing new Chargers I cannot stomache, and they are the one thing that ruins this car as is IMO I hope somone is paying attention to this.
