The mugs are made of, and in, China

This year we’re providing mugs to go with the Carlisle lunch, (design credit goes to Brian Matney).
Mugs
As regular readers know, I try to buy American or, at least, North American (I like Canada, too.) For that reason I ordered these mugs from an American company which “has a factory right here in Pennsylvania” and is named Glass America. Of couse, the mugs were made in China, and printed in America.

Next year I’ll be more specific in my inquiries (unless next year is “leftovers year” for knicknacks). The mugs are pretty high quality, as is the ink, though we got one defective one which read “Preserving the leg of Walter P. Chrysler.” I don’t think that’s our mission. So there’s some consolation there.

Amusingly, shipping is costing more than the mugs… much more. The shipping boxes are about the same price, but postage is at least $5.50 per mug — Parcel Post. UPS and FedEx ground are both a little higher but more work than just showing up at the post office counter with a pile of boxes.

I’ll be bringing around 72 mugs to Carlisle, so I hope you like ‘em!
