We’re trying to feature at least one repair article every week. Do you have one to contribute? We’ve got Monday’s ready but sometime next week we’ll need to have another for the following week.
Here’s a preview of what you’ll see on Monday.

The show starts tomorrow (Friday) morning, and vendors have been busy all day today building their tents, setting up their tables, and presenting their wares for the public tomorrow. We have our little Allpar banner flying at vendor space L10, and have also got banners on the tent.
To find the Allpar tent, just look for the survivors’ tent or the Chrysler test drives - and we’ll be right there. It’s a great location and we’re happy they gave it to us. What’s more, the Daytonas of Allpar are nearby - and in a prime location by Building Y.
See you there tomorrow!

First, I think we all must admire the Golden Throttle Body Award, mounted on an attractive wooden platform by our intrepid Bob O’Neill. It puts our other trophies to shame — thanks to all those who suggested it over the last two years:

Perhaps in the future we will have a Golden Dipstick Award… but who would want it?
Note — if you want the Long Distance Award, the current benchmark is 810 miles — so please let Kate or Dave know if you travelled more than 810 miles!

This year we’re providing mugs to go with the Carlisle lunch, (design credit goes to Brian Matney).

As regular readers know, I try to buy American or, at least, North American (I like Canada, too.) For that reason I ordered these mugs from an American company which “has a factory right here in Pennsylvania” and is named Glass America. Of couse, the mugs were made in China, and printed in America.
Next year I’ll be more specific in my inquiries (unless next year is “leftovers year” for knicknacks). The mugs are pretty high quality, as is the ink, though we got one defective one which read “Preserving the leg of Walter P. Chrysler.” I don’t think that’s our mission. So there’s some consolation there.
Amusingly, shipping is costing more than the mugs… much more. The shipping boxes are about the same price, but postage is at least $5.50 per mug — Parcel Post. UPS and FedEx ground are both a little higher but more work than just showing up at the post office counter with a pile of boxes.
I’ll be bringing around 72 mugs to Carlisle, so I hope you like ‘em!

Today I got the list of people who signed up as Allpar members at Carlisle, and there are 33 registrations, including me, and including a few people who signed up with more than one car. That’s a lot less than last year, but I think a lot of people changed their minds when gas prices soared, the economy soured, tens of thousands of autoworker jobs disappeared, and inflation, if unofficial figures are to be believed, shot up to double digits.

Anyway, I’m going to close down registration for the lunch-and-mug deal later today, and get a count over to Mathilda and Michael so we can order the cake, dogs, burgers, and fixings.
I’m still working on scheduling, and on getting people who want to sell stuff in our vendor area — my main goal in getting a vendor area was to have a big Allpar display, but there’s plenty of room for you to sell your wares if they’re appropriate and you agree to follow the rules. Let me know if you’re interested and maybe we can scratch each others’ backs.
Again, I’m still working on the events schedule, but I’ll post it here. In the meantime, “last call” for the mug-and-lunch deal.
