I'm sorry it's taken me so long to finally get around to saying so, but...

I appreciate this. I was able to rise to the rank of E-8 and retire after 26 years of service in the Navy as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. It had its ups and downs, but wouldn't have changed anything that happened, good or bad. Never feel sorry for things taking too long, as you said, some things just get in the way and take priority, but I always appreciate others noticing sacrifices others make for the better.

Hello Dana44: I'm from a family of Ford performance people, and finally realized (this summer) that I've been a Mopar lover at heart all along!

So, reading your replies caused me to join this forum: You are very thorough and well thought.

Thanks for sharing and I'm getting up to speed on the heads/intake parts of the 340 with your help!

Hello sir! I'm new to the site and currently replacing a /6 engine in my 74 scamp. The engine I bought was from the same year valiant, but for some reason the engine mounts aren't lining up. I'm not sure what to do or how to go about making up for the +/- 2" gap between the mounts. Any advice?

There isn't any reason why they don't fit, all the /6 block mount locations are the same to the best of my knowledge, so, since it was a /6 in both cars, the problem has to be with the mounts themselves. Is it possible they are on the wrong side of the engine, making them backwards?

Hi dana44, not sure if you remember me (Scott from Lakeport). Some time back you helped walk me through putting a 96 magnum 360 into my 90 dodge 4x4. You said to give you a shout when I was ready to convert from the 90 tbi setup to a carb. I think I'm about ready to pull all that together. I was hoping to get your input as to what I will need or the way I should go.

    Good evening dana44,
I just posted a question about my 1971 340 motor. How do I find the individuals on this forum that are going to give the best advise? I am new to this site today and that could be a dis-advance for someone looking for correct info.

Thank you. I have built Mopar most of 50 years. Raced with Arlen Vanke. He built my transmission and re-jetted the 850 thermo and spinn the distributor. Thx for writing back.

    Good evening,
Have you found anyone that has an answer to my question about the rocker rail on my 1971 340? The heads are "J" series. I need to start [I should have my mouth washed out with soap for using such terms]'y soon.

dana44, I was just wondering if I could ask you a question. On an old pushbutton TorqueFlite car, is there any reason why you cannot drive the car with the pushbutton unit detached and hanging down below the dashboard (for testing purposes)? Thank you for all your good posts.

Absolutely. It is just like any other cable setup, both ends are fixed (on the transmission with the cable itself, on the controller panel itself), which gives you the ability to mount the shifter anywhere you want, on a center console would really be cool, just don't alter the cable itself, as in trying to shorten it, that may mess things up.

Frank, I'm sorry, I never realized this was here, usually it is the personal messages I get. Keep us, or me, on the engine assembly, want to know how things are going with her. Yeah, Operations Specialist, last ten years or so became more "operations" than anything else, a real experience and glad to have stayed in.

Jason, I have to apologize for blowing you off, I didn't intend to, I never knew these personal message boards were here, just chanced upon it. Gotta love the retired life, and hope this gets to you in good health.
