Yesterday, I pulled the package shelf, put a coat of Eastwood radiator paint on the leading edge to hide any hint of the GY9 showing when the interior goes back in and packed up the parts in the trunk as it may finally be headed to the shop next week.

Looks like it's finally going to paint this week. Body color will be purple but the stripe color is not yet determined. I'm thinking maybe Furious Fuchsia.

Yesterday, I tried and failed three times to wrap a dash insert with the vents in place. I wasn't sure I could remove the vents without breaking anything. Today, I decided to just go for it and finally succeeded in removing the vents with a small hammer and thin drift.

Today, I delivered the Charger to the shop. It was a relief to finally send it off as it has been apart for over 2 years.

Don't feel too bad about your car being apart for a while. I am finally getting to start on my wife's 1981 Z28, which has been apart and carefully floating around since 1999, when I got deployed to Guam for 17 months. At least I can get all the parts I need (I'm hoping to drop a complete Hemi running gear in it instead of an LS engine), so I will start a topic on that conversion pretty soon, have some old panels that were damaged before she bought the car to take care of first, then the conversion so I can have the car upgraded and California smog legal.

If you are going to do carbon fiber overlay, might as well use denim.

Front fenders finally stripped, rest of the body to follow after Labor Day. Nice to see it finally being worked on.

I paid the previous shop to cut out all the rust and weld in new metal. Unfortunately, I was overseas and couldn't keep an eye on them. This is what the new shop found on the front fenders that had just been puttied over.

The hood is stripped and the hood pin holes welded shut. I'll be glad to be rid of those tedious things.

It's hard to find a shop that will work on old cars. I found a guy who only works on old cars.
