    That IS a Challenger of the 70s. It was introduced in 1978.

    I laughed at this import and elected to buy a Toyota Celica, which turned out to be the worst car I ever owned.

    The Challenger and Sapporo were a step up from the Colts and Arrows. They were fairly luxurious as far as small cars go. Not particularly fast with the 1.6L or good on gas with the big 2.6L, but they were solid cars.

    Little bro had a dark blue Sapporo. Nice little vehicle, trimmed like a personal luxury car, quiet inside. So, yes: I remember these. Thanks for the clip.

    And a true hardtop as well.

    Certainly not an economy car. My 78 got about the same mileage as the 318 Volare i traded in. It was a comfortable small luxury car loaded with options. Car felt solid and was trouble free but with the 2.6 balance shaft engine, torqueflite and a/c i never saw 25 mpg to Florida and back.
