So I have a 1982 D150 with a bad 225 slant 6. I just got a 318 in decent shape practically for free. Both trucks have a 727 TorqueFlite transmission but I'm pretty sure they have different bolt patterns. Any advice on fixes, bellhousings or advice on a different transmission? Thanks for taking the time to read.

Only fix is to swap the transmission too.

727 was used fairly often in slant 6 trucks. I had a 1979 slant 6/727 step side pickup. Other than it having the 727, it was a very pain truck.

Found a guy with a 318 and 727 with a driveshaft. Looks like I'll be going that route.

Yeah, the Slant Six transmission has the starter in a different location and it cannot be adapted, that's for sure.

In trucks with auto transmissions, the slant 6's came only with 727's from 1972 until 1977 and likely till 1980. And before 1972 too?

My '84 D100 with a 318 had the 904. The body style was changed for the 1981 model year, but I don't know if the base trans was also changed. Like Dana reported, the 225 starter location would have affected the automatic. Most of the trucks with Slant 6's had stick shifts.
