At 73,000 miles had the turbo go out on my truck. Three days later engine seized while driving. Dealer pulled oil pan and said that crank went out and melted rear oil seal. I’m not so sure that they really know what caused the issue. Oh they also said oil pan was full of soot. Waited 3 weeks for turbo change now two weeks past waiting on new engine. So will I continue to have these issues on new engine?
Oh yea I replaced all injectors at 45,000 miles.
Only 25,000 left on power Tran warranty.
Advice please.

I am thinking you are probably asking that this Ecodiesel engine has lots of expensive, mechanical problems. Should you sell it and get a different truck before the power train warranty expires at 100,000 miles?

You can go to this site and read about all the problems owners have had and are having with the Ecodiesel engine.

2018 Ecodiesel Engine Failure (at https://www.ram1500diesel.com/forum/ram-1500-diesel-general-discussion/61702-2018-ecodiesel-engine-failure.html )

Some owners have had the diesel engine replaced multiple times due to failure while other owners have 100,000+ miles and no engine failure issues. It does seem that this engine is not as durable and more failure prone than gasoline engines Chrysler has manufactured through the years.

How much do you like to gamble? What would happen if you had to pay $10,000+ for a new engine plus labor? I think there is some "handwriting on the wall" here!

Wonder if there's any relation between this and the change of oil spec?

Just got the truck back today. New full motor only reused alternator and ac compressor. After replacement they said that this was due to main bearing failure and had metal in the oil pan. Also noted oil pick up was also filled with soot. Ordering Green Diesel eco today to eliminate the egr recirclation and cause of the soot.
