Not for everyone...... I guess I can adapt if needed, but that isn't how I use my (Windows) phone. And I have over 3300 songs on my SD card..... Not even possible on my phone.

You can get a USB stick that only protrudes about 3/4" or less.

No, a dongle is a cable-mounted adapter. See post #259 for a low-profile USB stick.

We used the term 'dongle' for receiving updates for games (as we went through debugging the games) back when I was testing for SCEA (Playstation); they were basically low-profile/compact USB drives/sticks.

Spotify changed that for me. For $5 a month me, my girlfriend, my work; we all have my music and access to it immediately.

OK. More generically in the engineering world, a dongle has always been a cable-mounted appliance or adapter that adds a feature or function.

I haven't looked into that, so I can't comment. For me, my SD card is a compilation of music I have collected for about 50 years. I spend about 80 minutes a day commuting, so I figure I'll roll through those songs about 3 times per year. I'm guaranteed to hear something I like, but not several times a day as with radio. Maybe Spotify would offer that as well, but I have all this music I already purchased..... Ok, I'll not take this further off topic.

I live on the border of the US and Canada and get terrible radio reception thanks to the crummy high powered local FM stations. I don't listen to terrestrial radio at all (unless its AM talk radio). I love SiriusXM Satellite Radio and listen to it in the car, office and on my phone 80% of my day.

But UConnect is amazing system. I have set up my USB with folders based on era and specific genre and the system uses Gracenote to update most of .mp3 files with the correct album information and pictures of the album covers. As a audiophile even my 2014 version continues to impress me.

I have one in my 17 charger, low profile but still makes contact with my sliding change tray insert! I do hope some engineers read these posts.

Well, that is an interesting development - seems like going backwards to me. Guess I'm still somewhat old school. Seems like it is still easier to just have the music in the memory and let it play than have to fool around with some attachment - regardless of small it is - and how easy it is to lose.

Then again, as I said, I'm not planning to get rid of my 300 DUB Edition. Not only is it perfectly equipped the way I like it (although I wouldn't have minded it having a Hemi, but do like the better gas mileage the 3.5 gets), but I also suspect there is a chance as limited edition as it was it could possibly become a collector item some day.

The problem is the expense and reliability of a rotating hard drive in a vehicle. While a hard drive for your computer is cheap, a durable one for a car is still very expensive. Same for large non-rotating drives. So USB and SD drives fill the need.

Unless you go solid-state HD; but those are still expensive.

Checking out available 2018 300s I find Chrysler website is moving in right direction for ease of use. Base car is not too crude as far as content goes, big plus to me. My personal choice would be less distraction from Infotainment system and availability of ALL driver assist devices in base these cars.

When building a vehicle with a hand held device selection of options and dealerships becomes annoying, don't want to drive 40+ miles to find final price/choices are incorrect. Its a deal killer for me and I am sure the youngsters won't tolerate the dealer/website and move on.

It would be nice to see AWD in the Hemi lineup (C model).

This shows to me the biggest problem with the current 300 design. The front end. The Charger just looks more finished and more integrated to the rest of the car..maybe its that the lights and grill are in the same line where the 300 has the grill so far jutted out.
That is where they missed on the design. Compare to the 1st gen 300 where the head lights were flush with the end of the hood and the grill was just a bit out from them like the Charger is now. The current 300 looks like a big extra tacked on front end and with no detail in the lights or below them.
It now looks like the previous Charger with its big ugly grill...end of rant.

I have found the Chrysler "build your car" websites no more annoying than others. None of of them are 100% accurate. I consider them more a toy. And really, a lousy website isn't going to turn me away from a purchase.
