Looks like Motortrend has a Redeye for the 2018 World's Greatest Drag Race judging by some photos on the social medias.

Isn’t the red eye a 2019? Hope it’s a widebody. And due to the nature of the race, I hope it’s somone with experience launching it.

Yeah, I'm not sure which is why I've been trying to find the instagram post that showed it....but I can't find it. I feel like I follow 1000 Motortrend personalities and photographers.

Assume I'm mistaken until I find it, I suppose.

The scat pack stripe should be the same one that was previously available on the scats going across the trunk and down.

There's no way I could afford a Hellcat. Even if someone gave me one, I couldn't afford the insurance. I don't even have a garage. The Challenger would be a hard sell if it wasn't for all the trickle down upgrades from the high end packages. The Challenger GT RWD provides a way for people like me to enjoy the performance car they missed out on when they were younger. Twenty five years ago was the swan song of the front drive Daytona. Responsibility dictated that many of us bought a Caravan instead.

Am hoping you shopped around for insurance coverage..... hate to hear someone not being able to live the dream because of high insurance costs..... my coverage is around $200.00-ish more per year than a "standard" Challenger...… that may be too much for some budgets but just only hope that you get what you like and enjoy what you have. In my opinion, while some consider the V6 the puny of the bunch, the Pentastar is an exception powerplant; compare it to the 340's performance of yesteryear. V-6's are MUCH improved since the 100-125h.p. versions not that long ago. I enjoy "punching" the throttle of my wife's 2015 Charger on occasion and surprising most around me with it's subtle exterior compared to the higher optioned Chargers. Best wishes to you and family and hope you enjoy your ride!

My Hellcat insurance was only $1,300 Canadian a year. I traded it in for a 2018 Durango Citadel with the hemi and my insurance went UP $3.00 a month !

Drag cars use light brakes, actually surprised they didn't go with the brakes that they use to put on the super track packs but that may have been a safety issue or regulation due to hp+weight. Also surprised that the car doesn't have a lower rear gear, like a 3.23 or 3.55. Gears may have made the car too close to a typical hellcat though, low 11's.

Big brakes are beneficial for cars that see extended use like on a road course, drag cars only have to stop once and then typically have 10-30 min of downtime before they get used again.

Not only that, but it's also weight reduction. Specifically reducing rotational mass.

I was RIGHT! They test the 1320 Scat Pack for the 1/4 mile, but pull out a Redeye for a surprise appearance to do the 1/2 mile against the 720s, GT2 RS and Hurrican (but you can't watch the 1/2 mile unless you sub to MT On Demand).
