There are safety issues with that though.
And the whole "what about the passengers?" complaint
With parental controls I could block WiFi and block cell signals when my children are driving our vehicles. Not sure why anyone would even pay for WiFi in the vehicle anyway. Most cell plans today include hotspot usage from your cellphone. Why pay extra to have WiFi on your car?
Besides, I am saying you have the ability to turn this feature off and on like parental controls on a tv or computer. If people want to let their teenagers use their car and text and talk while driving, leave it on. I would just like the ability to block these devices at my choosing since I don't trust any teen not to use their phone while driving, as kids will be kids....
Make it so in vehicle devices only have 911 capability while moving. I tell my kids all the time not to talk on their phone and drive but I know they still do. Distracted driving is bad with all drivers but with teens I am sure it is even worse. Frankly I am surprised this hasn't been included on all vehicles yet.
There is a cheaper way to do that...it is called parenting.
Not sure why I didn't think of that? I should have realized all kids make good choices when they have "good parents".
Electronic nannies won't eliminate bad choices, it will just change where the bad choices are made.
I believe cell phone blocking is illegal. The phones could legally disable themselves when moving, but I don’t believe the car can legally block the signal.
Disable Tracking Devices?
Does someone want to do a rendering of the '19 RAM based on that red truck revealed a few weeks ago. I know auto blog did one but I think they got the grille wrong. From looking at the spyshots, there might be a bar integrated into the headlights with RAM in the middle. And then there will most likely be the full headlights with the bar not integrated into the headlights. I also saw an orange truck rendering on here but the only thing that was wrong was the vertical bar. Or unless the crosshair comes back. -Resparks crosshair debate- Whoever did that basically nailed it. He/she definitely saw the truck. I wouldn't have guessed the 1500 HEMI badge would be where (basically) the Z71 4x4 goes. And the headlights were nailed along with RAM in the middle which I do predict. Idk man I just want to see the damn truck lol January seems like a distance too far, even though it's almost Dec.
This thing is going to debut before we guess correctly. Lol
Definitely a fun way to pass the time tho.
Any new spy photos out there? I've been too busy to look.
Digital Traffic Display
Like this one -
I think Digital and Display are the "Di" words. The "T" I'm still on the fence about. "Direct" and "Distance" are 2 other ones I've been playing with.
No on "Digital".
Discharge, Dim-able, Disconnecting, Divided, Difference... e.O hmmm
Di______ T________ Display
Not a current feature in OEM or aftermarket info-radios
A similar version was in a concept vehicle a few years ago
Available on 8.4" and 12" screens
Nothing to do with voice
Some hints in previous interior spy shots on last one with 12" screen and older 8.4"
This is going to be glaringly obvious when announced.
Distance to Divorce. It shows the distance from the dealership to your house when you buy a new truck without your wife's (or husband's) permission.
Direct Telematics Display? xD (or something to do with Towing/Hauling, specifically)
I know that's wrong, because SRT Pages, and Jeep Pages .. so maybe Ram Pages (badum-tss) too. lol
That said, I entirely agree with the glaringly obvious when it's announced thing. lol
Here's a older thread about "Next Generation Uconnect", along with things shown in previous concepts that I had forgotten about.
