Auto News posted US sales for the first 6 months on this year. I’m sure Dave will provide a more detailed breakdown.

The US market overall shrunk 22.2%, which means FCA lost market share with a 25.8% decline.

Q2 was a especially bad with sales falling 34% overall, 39% at FCA. For consolation, Nissan saw a 50% decline in the same period.

Below are FCA overall numbers for US 2020 6-month sales:

    Alfa Romeo -17.7%
    Chrysler -31.7%
    Dodge -41.9%
    Ram -19.5%
    Fiat -51.7%
    Jeep -21.2%
    Maserati -43.3%
    Total FCA USA -25.8%

GM, FCA, Toyota, Nissan sales drop

I had it posted hours ago.

FCA sales plummeted—as we expected them to

Toyota hadn't fallen too badly before, I haven't seen their latest report, though. It's not on their media site but AutoNews says - oops, down 35%. That's not good since they do have some new and very competitive vehicles.

    Hyundai - down 24%
    Mazda - down just 17%
    GM - down 34%
    Ford - ?

So far FCA is worst of all reporting.

I wonder if Toyota suffer from the image of being a "grand'pa car" despite the return of the Supra to give a more sportier image and the new cars have a more youthful image? Besides didn't Toyota had fallen badly back to the era of sudden acceleration problems?

I wonder how far Honda had fallen?

The Supra was a clumsy effort, unrelated to their regular cars, IMHO. Really, what they need is a true performance version of the Corolla or Camry to change their image.

Toyota doesn't suffer from any of that really anymore. Toyota is one of the better makes to where people aren't blinded by "old" people cars. If anything from having scion and then taking their cars on once they got killed off hurt them more than anything. Toyota isn't jumping feet first with high-performance cars, they're slowly bringing high performance cars because those cars aren't going to sign the pay checks

Honestly, I was expecting much worse. I know c19 has forced me to delay due to loss of income and my credit plummeting.

Glad not everyone is suffering like me.

I'm pulling new vehicles out of cold storage where they have been for the last 15 weeks and have only recently been registered. We have other vehicles with barely any miles and that should be well into their service life. They won't be replaced for awhile. We still have vehicles sitting with no plates waiting for business to pick up. The rental fleets won't be buying minivans after they have had minivans collecting dust for 4 months. The Dodge Grand Caravan and Journey are dead due to complications from Covid-19.

I don't think Hertz is even buying anything in their bankruptcy. Their service area is a ghost town.

I was going to get a new grand cherokee but opted for a used 4runner instead. I don't want a car payment in times like these, nor a large depreciating asset.

Silverado now has a 20k lead in sales over 6 months.

    How to catch up?

So sorry to hear. This loss of employment is brutal.

I was expecting worse on the sales front, too.

My income has stayed relatively unchanged, which is not bad considering I am an independent consultant for the automakers. But my business prospects for the next 24 months look pretty grim. It is belt-tightening time for me.

Hertz and Avis both cancelled all their orders. Enterprise may have done the same though they are doing relatively well.

LOTS of ex-rental ProMasters were auctioned and sold, but the prices have come back with a vengeance. We saw a nearly new ProMaster for $21,000 at the Nissan dealer. Wish we'd bought it, now. Problem was they had everyone crowded into a tiny space, and no soap in the bathroom much less hand sanitizer... meanwhile the sales people were sitting all alone chatting in the big empty sales area. While we waited with the largely maskless waiting-for-service people...

Saving a few thousand on a van is not worth spending a few thousand on hospitals.

Every one of their new cars should have been a hit, really... Corolla still seems pretty underpowered but it's really quite efficient and comfortable. A good bet for the long term “point A to point B” driver.

The vast majority of folks consider vehicles appliances to get around.
Car geeks, like us, have different requirements.

I saw at Autobison, Honda sales dropped by 28% (alone or did it include Acura?), they said Toyota sales feel more harder than Volkswagen feel by 28%, Volvo by 15%.
