I wild like to know what 2litre engines are compatible for my 2004 model. More specifically, will a 2003 engine work in my car? It's a petrol type and manual. My vin starts with 4t so the 2003 engine starts with 3t.

I believe all PT's sold in the USA are 2.4 liter. The 2001 and 2002 won't swap. The 2003 should be ok if the engine has the same engine code. A 2006 has a 'B' code engine.

Is your engine a 2.0L DOHC and sales code ECC? You would want that same sales code. Neon doesn't show as the same code and was only a SOHC at that time.
There was a change from SBEC-type engine control to NGC. The 2003 may have been the changeover year, so 2004 should be NGC.
A Hollenders interchange manual might show what is compatible and what isn't.
What is wrong with the engine you have now? Is there any way to service it?
