With the launch of the Jeep Renegade with the American market 1.4T being made in Dundee, Michigan. Ive begun to think about the 500L engine. Even though http://www.allpar.com/cars/adopted/fiat/500L.html says the 1.4T is made in Termoli, Italy for the 500L, I've been thinking that they might be made in Dundee, Michigan after all. Tremoli has production capability for up to 4,000,000+ units a year (source: http://www.emeraldinsight.com/journals.htm?articleid=1667232&show=pdf) why wouldn't they supply the Renegade with the 1.4T engine for the US? unless the americanised engine was never produced there?

So where is the 1.4t for the american 500L made?

The 1.4L Turbo engine for the 500L is made in Italy. If you search out some new inventory and look at the window sticker it will tell you assembly, engine, and transmission origin. As a matter of fact, the 500L has 0% of its parts from US/Canada.

I can't find the info any more, but I though that I heard that all of the 1.4L engine work was moving back to Italy. I hear so many things, though, it is hard to keep track of what is real and what are opinions.

My son just processed a 500L into the rental fleet at MSP. The motor is from Italy according to the window sticker he showed me. The next question is; Do the motors have the modifications that the North American built ones have? The Euro 1.4 MA Turbo uses different oil and had other weird requirements, which don't play well here.
