I have a 1974 dart sport with a 360. I am trying to replace the motor mounts but every time I order them from a place, they turn out to be bigger from the original mounts and dont fit. Has anyone else encountered this problem and does anyone have a solution or a reason why they are bigger? Thanks for your help.

I would be taking the old mount down to the parts store and verifying the mount side by side by what the books/computer says is the right one. Not sure how they could be bigger, unless the one you have that is original (sic) was modified for the engine. Is this an original 360 Dart or an engine swap? There is a difference of the mounting bracket on the passenger side (?) between the 318 and the 360, and the other possibility of a Schumacher motor mount swap kit installed if it was originally a slant six car.

The 5th character in the VIN would tell which engine originally came with the car. I believe that the 6 and V8 crossmembers were different. It may be a 'custom' motor mount for a 360?

Yes, the 6 and 8 K members are different. But the actual rubber mounts are the same if I remember right.

If you check Rockauto and motor mount parts, they are different for the slant 6 and the V8.

It is originally a 340 car now a 360, it's a 1973 too idk why I put 74 but the 340 mounts are totally different than what i have. Is the 340 k frame different than other v8 k frames? The mounts I get from other places look exactly like the ones that are on the car now with the 360 just about 3/8" bigger. The part number for a 73 with a 318 is em2326 and em2325 and its the same mount for a 360 in a 1974 according to rock auto. Idk I wanted the whole mount but I may just have to replace the rubber bushing instead. Thank you for your replies I appreciate them.

I tried ordering another mount on rock auto that in the picture 'looked' smaller. No guarantee but it's worth a shot

The 318/340 is different mounting bracket compared to th 360, if that helps any. The K member is the same for the V8s, the mounting tabs on the passenger side of the 360 is different from the 318/360. Hope that helps.

Spool mount V 8 K frame should be on both the 73 and 74 A Body dusters, darts . The engine spool mounts are different only between 318 and 340/360 on the left side. The mopar number is 3642811 for 318 and 3642813 for the 340/360. The right side is the same for 318/340/360 which is 3642810. The 318 mount is more narrow on the the left side. The part numbers will supersede many times so those part numbers may change if you go looking for NOS mounts. And yes the K frame is the same for 318/340/360 only slant six is different.
Now my question to you. Are you saying they are not mounting to the block because they are too big or are they too big where the slide into the k frame?

To clarify... the 318 is more narrow on the left side where it bolts to the block, not where it slides into the k frame. The k frame opening for the mount is the same.

yea the left side was the side i tried mounting to first. They weren't mounting to the block because they were too big. I'm gonna look at the part numbers you gave me if these other ones i'm getting dont work. thanks for your help
