It's a gamble and likely beyond their abilities at that level.
They actually could be found in breach of their fiduciary responsibilities, if this move lowers the value of their holdings.
Remember, they are underfunded by 9.8 Billion and they need the shares at full value to recoup that.
Going to IPO right now means they could lose about 4.5 billion.
Look back at GM. They needed $55 per share to break even. Their IPO went off at $33. Losing their unions and funds, $22 per share.
Interesting how this will all play out.

Yes, both sides are negotiating hard. I can't post a link, but Larry's Automotive News had an interesting article on VEBA's chief negotiator. Now Sergio hired Bloom to advise on these negotiations.
I see a settlement before IPO, if egos from either side don't get in the way.

I should have added that they claimed to have gone 80mph without it shifting.

I would agree, that is the goal.
It should be noted that sending workers home from the KL plant and storing the cars at an undisclosed location is a nice touch. ;)

What? A Jen-Lo commercial with Charlie Sheen in leg irons in the factory?

Actually, the Charlie Scheen commercial was well reviewed. J-LO on other hand... Worst since Celine.

    Speaking of literal... ;)
Are you joking, or did you miss the post by an "insider" stating December?

Technically speaking, two weeks from now would still be before Christmas. He never said "In December", just "before Christmas".

Saying "before Christmas" is smart... that's a pretty wide window for delivery. If they didn't have unrealistic launch schedules, this probably wouldn't have happened.
