    I have a 1997 Dakota 3.9 motor and was wondering if it will fit in my other truck 2004 Dakota 3.7 motor. will it bolt up to the auto trans.

    Welcome to Allpar. I corrected your post to read 2004, it said 2994. Is that correct?
    The short answer is no, it will not be just a matter of bolting up the trans. The electrical architecture is completely different between the 2 trucks and the 1997 42LE is a different trans and control software than the electronically-shifted 2004 42RLE/45RFE.
    Is there a problem with the 3.7L?
