Noticed this little rendering in the corner, also close to the production, not the recessed grill (yes on the lack of cross-hair), but note the recessed headlights as evidenced by the close up spy shot.

Not for sure. My guess is 400, to make a big statement in ads for the new Ram vs the Tundra. Others have guessed a little less, on the grounds that 400 would be awfully close to the 6.1's output. It will clearly be more than the current motor, with potential to climb higher over the next few years.

We now have another way to get Challenger news- Dodge's official blog site at:

    http://www.redletterdodge.com/

Here are the latest Q & As from the site:

    CHALLENGER
Not surprisingly, the Challenger is a hot topic of conversation, which led to the following questions and even the occasional demanding chorus of chanting:

    Q: davesanrn posted:
“I heard all the R/Ts have been pre-sold already. I hope that isn’t true.”
A: We can safely say that no R/Ts have been put up for sale yet. They are, as yet, unavailable for pre-sale in the 2008 model year. — RLD
    Q: craig posted:
“is there a chance we will see the challenger body in NASCAR”
Our own Mike Accavitti offers this answer:
A: The decisions on what types of models, body styles and engines used in racing generally lies with in the sanctioning body of a race series. This is certainly the case with NASCAR. There are many considerations that go in to making those decisions, driver safety, cost of ownership, overall racing performance and fan interest being a few. As a manufacturer we have some input in to this process through discussions with race organizers. Dodge can not think of anything more exciting than watching Challengers taking the checkered flag on Sundays, but a lot more work and planning will be required to make that a reality. — Mike
    Q: Mrkrissullivan posted:
“does anybody know about a convertable coming out?”
A: No. Nothing. We know nothing. Seriously, there’s not a whole lot we can help you with on this one except that convertible has an “i” right there instead of an “a”. (See? We told you we weren’t going to be much help.) — RLD
    Q: Mrgtmustang posted:
“Was going to get a new 2008 GT but am waiting on the HEMI Challenger. I’ll be back to Dodge if it really comes out.”
A: We’re a bit biased, but hey…great comment. And, yes Mr. G.T. Mustang, we can safely say the Challenger is really coming out. In fact, here’s the exact moment it will be. — RLD
    Q: UgottaloveaHEMI posted:
“Ok everyone together now. This will only work if we all do it together!!!
CUDA CUDA CUDA CUDA CUDA CUDA CUDA CUDA CUDA CUDA CUDA CUDA CUDA CUDA!!!!!!!
Can you hear us down at the headquarters Chrysler.”
A: Not sure we can speak for everyone, but we heard you. — RLD

Check out this paint-color book. Note that it shows three colors for the 2008 Challenger -- Melbourne Green Pearl, Hemi Orange Pearl, and Deep Water Blue Pearl -- and Dark Slate Gray for the interior (with all three colors).

The blue could be B5, sorta. The green is pretty dark to be anything High Impact.

Both the green and blue seem to be a bit dark for a car like the Challenger. Neither of which are "high impact", while not bad colors overall, they just don't seem to fit.

Blue with black hood stripes would look pretty nice.

Yeah, it seems odd to me, too. Clearly we don't have the whole story yet.

If we can take this at face value, Duckie, welcome to retirement.

Here's hoping you enjoy yours as much as I'm enjoying mine!

Just to put all the current rumors into one image, I thought this might help visualize:

Edit: Less saturated, more realistic blue.

    Thanks,

Having done it late last night on my laptop, and seeing it now on my workstation monitor, the color is a little intense.

It's excellent. That's EXACTLY the car I want. 6.1 and a manual trans and I'm all set.
