Is it? Didn't the third shift get shut down a while back? If so, that would be a simple way to up the plant's output in a hurry.

I don't think there will be much haggling with the price. The dealer will say "it's this much, take it or a dozen other people will"
Even though it's out of the price range of most youger buyers (first year srt's), I think this vehicle will bring in a lot of traffic/
    news/magazines/talk. It's a very exciting time....

I'm only 17, but I'm already saving up for mine. Hopefully get there in 5 years. I'm sure it'll be worth every penny.

It's possible that we have a little TOO much info for Chrysler's comfort.

redletterdodge.com, Dodge's official blog site is currently running the following poll:

"In keeping with your overwhelming interest in Challenger — and our keeping final specs and pricing information under wraps until they’ve been finalized — we’re throwing the ball back in your court.

Forget about us for a minute. Let’s assume you can mate your Challenger with any powertrain you like. What would it be? Take a second to vote in the poll on the right hand side of the blog. And, as always, post your thoughts, specifics and love letters with the comment link below.

If available, what would you prefer under the hood of your Challenger?

–The most powerful thing I can get
–Any V8 is enough for me
    –Offer a V6 and I’ll buy it
    –That thing got a hybrid?
    –Who cares? It’s a looker."

  9. Just went and voted for the obvious (to me) response.

I can see a 6.4L Hemi Challenger coming eventually to run against an inevitable LS7 Camaro. There's already multiple stroker kits available for the 5.7/6.1 out there and guys are buying them like crazy, it'd be foolish for Chrysler to hold back on getting the 6.4L crate production ready.

The person who voted for a Hybrid powertrain needs a kick in the jewels. I'd rather see the upcoming 4.2L V6 Cummins in the Challenger than some overpriced Hybrid monstrosity.

For comparisons sake, how many Mustangs do Ford produce a year?

I understand they have to keep room for the other LX/LY vehicles but 35k doesn't really sound like a lot.

Um, shouldn't "powertrain" include transmission options?

If so, then, since my Challenger will be a daily driver (unless they also make the Demon... hint, hint), I'd like a 6.1 with a DSG (in the second half of '09 for the '10 model year), please.

In B5 Blue, not that that has anything to do with the powertrain - Mark

This could be great for you Go Straight/Less Weight guys and gals. While I enjoy a full GT road car...hear-hear a Challenger for every taste!

Cool. Now if we can get 'em to do a light weight/max handling T/A package, us track-day guys will be all set too.
