Actual line production of the Challenger is around this date. I imagine the one they are auctioning off is one of the many they send down the line as pre-production.
The invoice is out there because as we all know they are excepting deposits. Invoice must be from some dealer because it shows dealer price vs MSRP.
Oh well, I guess I won't get an employee discount on the first MY :p

I just thought the 6.1 might have been getting a revision along with the 5.7. Was I wrong? (certainly very possible!)

Looks like a little Challenger math (and maybe a decoder ring) may be needed to solve the mystery...

    1+ (1+1) + 1 = 4

    3 displacements available.
One displacement (1+1) will will come in two different versions, possible different power (i.e. 6.1 425 hp, and 6.1 475 hp), or one with MDS and one without like the 5.7, or something else.

Or a 6.1 with mds at 425hp and a 6.1 with out mds at 475. Or the 6sp manual 6.1 gets 475hp and the auto gets 425.
    But looking at "1+ (1+1) + 1 = 4" I think It's the 5.7(middle output) that has the variable, like you said.

Questions for the guys that are ordering their challenger.
    How does ordering work?
    Are you getting MSRP?
How are the dealers to work with?

    Thanks,
    Woodstock

Ordering for 08s is done. My dealer and I have an understanding, I will pay MSRP. I told him that if some fool is willing to pay him thousands over then he better take it. If that happens I will get an 09. In reality, there will be more colors and other options in 09 and we can all get more of what we want.
I still say it is obscene what some dealers are doing.Look on ebay.

I'm thinking by the order oh2o listed it, there would be two different 5.7L Hemis...

I'm going to guess two different 5.7L options...one will be the standard Hemi, and the other will be a Hemi Hybrid (Two Mode Hemi, like the Durango will have for 08).

    Two Mode Hemi Durango

Or maybe like the Charger, with the regular 5.7 and the "Daytona" 5.7.

My first thought regarding the (1+1) and the 5.7 was MDS. That does, however, seem a bit too obvious.

Do you mean obvious that it would have MDS, or that it wouldn't?

After more thought; I have this new guess.
    1. 3.5 V6
    2. 5.7 V8 w/MDS
    3. 5.7 V8 w/MDS & VVT
    4. 6.1 V8 ?

    I came to this from "1+(1+1)+1" and reinterpreted it as 1[3.5]+(1[5.7 w/MDS]+1[5.7 w/MDS & VVT]{same engine, two configurations})+1[6.1].

Would. MDS would deactivate cylinders to save fuel, meaning the car's only running on 4 cylinders right? I know it's a bit of a stretch to point this out as two different engines, and almost obvious that the 5.7 would have it, right?

    VCT being variabe cam timing?

I guess we should have realized that MDS wouldn't work well with the manual... But where's the big 6.4L? I guess they may need something to spice up the 2010 models after the initial hysteria wears off... but I really wanted my 392 Challenger next year!

And what's this new business about the interior? I really hope it retains the overall feel of the concept because I thought it was outstanding.
