Dodge has placed 8th in the “Top 10” in the Consumer Reports annual reliability ranking: Fiat Chrysler makes top 10 in Consumer Reports reliability rankings (at https://www.detroitnews.com/story/business/autos/2019/11/14/consumer-reports-dodge-among-top-reliable-brands/4178549002/ )
Don’t change a running system, improve it. i think there should be a sustainability rating. Just watched a review of the Honda Pilot and while he was raving about the engine he mentioned cylinder deactivation, direct injection and electronic motor mounts (to reduce NVH) as added complexity. Later ones apparently costing $1000 a piece. We concentrate on fuel economy and then come up with improvements that make it hard to maintain these cars for ten years... But so nice to see Dodge jump ahead like this.
What makes this news even better for me is that FCA is the only Detroit auto company to crack the top 10 this time. I think that's something else to celebrate. HEY!!!...Anybody out there got a 12-pack of Diet Moxie?? P.S..As long as we're partying, let's throw in some Clamcakes and Chowder: View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E70Znra2tqA View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lo75UFWbEcE
Double that celebration for me. All the GM brands took big drops - Buick dropped the most of any US brand, Cadillac was dead last, and "Brand C" was never very high on their list . Biggest surprise was that the Korean brands remain in their top10 for so many years. They were the absolute lowest back about 25 years ago. Shows what can be done when a real effort at improving quality reputation is made.
The article I read on this was sort of a back handed compliment to Dodge and Chrysler, which both moved up in the ratings (despite some apparent Pacifica issues). The reason Consumer Reports assume is behind the rise of Dodge and Chrysler was because they have no new models, and new models are more troublesome if the first few years.
I mean are they wrong though? The longer something is out without anything major would mean they should have issues worked out by now
Yes that is exactly what should happen. As long as lessons are learned and acted upon to correct faults and cost reduction doesn't introduce new problems.
Well it looks like the Challenger and GC pulled the brand up...the Durango was rated below average otherwise Dodge would have placed even higher.
No diet Moxie but I'll gladly share some of my RC Cola with you (I also have some (Nehi Grape & Orange too). All in glass bottles w/cane sugar.
And from Consumer Reports saying this? They absolutely hate Dodge and Chrysler! This is good news! But if I am going to be fair... I never trust anything CR says.... so can I trust this? (Okay maybe this one time I will!)
Are these the folks who blew up the Chevy truck or rated the OMNI enexceptable? You remember that? If you jerked the wheel at 60 and then let go of it the car would go out of control. I don’t use their advice buying a vacuumed cleaner, let alone a car.
No. I believe that was Dateline. Admittedly, saddle tanks outside of the frame was not a good idea, but Dateline rigged the "test".
Do these come in diet versions? My Doctors (yes...unfortunately plural)...would have me boiled in oil (unsaturated, of course)...if I were to consume 1,000 or more calories a week on cane sugar sweetened carbonated beverages. If not, I'll have to courteously decline your gracious offer.
